The Bar Yohai Sefardic Minyan is the only Bay Area Orthodox Sefardic community south of San Francisco.
We have welcomed Jews of all traditions, origins and walks of life, both residents of and visitors to Silicon Valley for almost two decades. We have seen a large number of families move to our neighborhood so they too can live our beautiful Jewish traditions to their fullest. Our members are Sefardim and Ashkenazim, Americans and Europeans, Persians and Moroccans, all strongly committed to the spirit of openness, acceptance, friendliness and community which is the hallmark of the Bar Yohai Sefardic Minyan.
The Bar Yohai Sefardic Minyan is a full service community attracting more than 100 people every Shabbat, holding regular daily minyanim, and offering a full complement of social and educational activities. For details about services and activities this week see "weekday times" in the Weekly update.
Currently we hold most of our activities at the SPHDS (South Peninsula Hebrew Day School) Campus, on 1030 Astoria Dr. in Sunnyvale.
Finally, after many years of effort, we are in the process of building our own sanctuary on the SPHDS grounds, as part of a larger renovation and expansion project planned in cooperation with SPHDS. |
